Vista Martial Arts Builds Young Minds and Bodies

Children love learning at ZenBu Martial Arts and Fitness in Vista, CA. Our martial arts programs are high-energy, fun and interactive.

The overarching goal of the Vista Martial Arts school is to build our student's self esteem, wich we do by acknowledging, recognizing and rewarding not just our student's accomplishments and successes, but their efforts as well.

Learning martial arts is a physical endeavor, involving all muscle groups to help develop a student's physical fitness. But our emphasis goes far beyond just learning physical moves and martial arts techniques. At ZenBu Martial Arts and Fitness, we use martial arts as a mechanism to develop positive character and life-improvement skills in our students

Life Lessons Developed Through Martial Arts Vista

Classes at Vista Martial Arts end with group discussions and role-playing exercises. We touch on life lessons and discuss alternate resolutions to some of the issues children face today. These issues are discussed in a non-threatening, proactive way.

Children pay close attention as we explore topics that include:

* Avoiding conflicts
* Dealing with bullies
* Mental self-defense
* Proper respect for adults
* Stranger awareness
* Respect for self and others
* Saying "no" to drugs and peer pressure

These valuable life lessons help our martial arts Vista students understand the connection between what they learn in class and the real-world applications that make martial arts practical and insightful skills for school-age, and beyond.

Following are some general descriptions of our children's programs. Please don't hesitate to call us with your questions. Better yet, drop in and watch a class!

Basic Program: This is the entry-level membership into our Black Belt Club. It is our complete self-defense and physical conditioning course, which also includes our first three Life Skills: Black Belt Attitude, Respect and Trust (BART). It serves to develop structure and discipline in the life of the student. This membership takes the average student six to eight months to complete.

Leadership Program: This is our "holding area" for those students who have gone beyond the basics and may not yet be ready for full membership into our Black Belt Club. More focus is placed on preparing the student for leadership roles in our dojo, at school and in society. This program also introduces the student to selected martial arts weapons, which further enhances thier self-defense skills.

Black Belt Club (Dream Team): Our school is a Black Belt Academy. Every student's goal is to earn his or her Black Belt and to live each day with Black Belt Excellence. Entry into our Black Belt Club is by invitation only. To be considered a student must possess three qualitites: Black Belt Attitude, Consistent Class Attendance and a Personal Committment (to earning their Black Belt).

You may think of our Black Belt Club as an Honors Program. Students, if in school, are expected to maintain a certain GPA and good citizenship in and out of our Black Belt Academy. The student becomes part of a worldwide fraternity of martial artists. They are given an unrestricted Black Belt Club time-frame (2 to 3 years) to earn their first degree Jr. Black Belt along with an increased class time availability.

This Honors Program also includes:

* Okianwan/Zen philosophy that is supported with personal development and Life Skills Training.

* Original Okinawan forms that will improve strength, flexibility, coordination and self-defense skills.

* Participation in Okinawan sparring that utilizes safe martial arts applications.

* Board breaking techniques to help develop confidence, power and kimi (strategic focusing).

* Dream Team students will have access to Special Clinics for andvanced self-defense and weapons training (fee required for Special Clinics).
